Barkley Breaks the Seven Second Barrier!

After wrapping up his fourth straight CMDRA Pro Street Championship title, Barkley still had unfinished business to attend too. Ethan had been flirting near the elusive sevens for the last half of the season, running several 8.0’s at the last three events. In a recent late season test session, he piloted his Pro Street turbocharged 2006 Suzuki Canada / Walt Healy Motorsports / EB Speed GSX-R1000 to an incredible 7.970 @ 189.79 mph. The cool fall air combined with excellent track preparation at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton helped him squeeze out those last few hundredths of a second he needed. Barkley has become only the third Canadian to break into the sevens’ aboard a streetbike and the first to do so on a 1000cc machine. After the run Barkley exclaimed, “ We’ve worked so hard to get here, and it feels great to finally get that monkey off our backs”. In 2008, Barkley is gunning for his 5th straight CMDRA Pro Street title, and looks forward to putting up many more seven’s on the scoreboards.
